WoundStat™ is an effective hemostatic agent for the treatment of bleeding trauma in animals. WoundStat™ has been tested extensively in animal trauma models followed by the US Army and the US Navy/Marine Corps. Virginia Commonwealth University researchers found that an early version of WoundStat™ enabled animal survival in 100% of test cases, while other products that are currently used (by the military) failed.

These tests were based on strict criteria provided by the US military, which included: ease of use (can be applied by anyone), ready to use with no mixing needed, long shelf life, safe with no risk of exothermia, and no transmission of human bloodborne pathogens.

Identical results emerged from testing conducted by one of the nations’ premier independent medical device research labs, NAMSA, in Norwood, OH*.

Most serious accidents involving animals happen when a veterinarian is not immediately available.WoundStat™ can be applied by anyone as long as they have been told how to apply it by a veterinarian. WoundStat™ will stop the bleeding and give an owner the time necessary to reach medical care.

Product Description:

WoundStat™ has been scientifically proven to meet the challenge of bleeding wounds. Its per-unit cost is competitive with all hemostatic agents on the market today – but none of them can match its effectiveness. Because no two wounds are alike, WoundStat™ is granular, allowing it to be poured into, mold and adhere to irregularly shaped and extensive wounds. And, unlike other products, it has shown no evidence of side effects. The mineral based product, produced in the United States, is offered in a moisture-impermeable, sterile, 5.5-ounce foil pouch that can be easily opened.

Application Instructions:

  1. Tear open WoundStat™ pouch at perforations
  2. Empty contents of pouch directly into wound
  3. Firmly pack WoundStat™ into all areas of the wound
  4. Hold pressure for up to 3 minutes
  5. If seepage occurs, perform additional packing of WoundStat
  6. Wrap and secure a bandage to maintain pressure during patient transport
  7. If bleeding continues, remove bandage and apply a second application of WoundStat

  8. Do not remove the previous application!

  9. Seek medical care as soon as possible and show empty pack to medical personnel.

Hemostasis is achieved temporarily for a period of at least three hours.

Literature:

WoundStat™ has been tested extensively in animal trauma models followed by the US Army and the US Navy/Marine Corps. Using these models, considered by some as the "gold standard" for testing ballistic wound treatments, Virginia Commonwealth University found that an early version of WoundStat™ enabled animal survival in 100% of testing cases, while products currently used by the military failed. That study has been published in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of Trauma. (www.jtrauma.com ; Ward, K. et al)
