Trauma is the number one cause of death in the US among people aged 45 and younger and 30% - 40% of these deaths are caused by hemorrhage.¹ Until now, there has been no product available that safely and effectively stops the most severe arterial bleeding caused by traumatic incidents. Now there is WoundStat™.
Product Description:
WoundStat™ has been proven to meet the strict criteria set by the US military, which includes: ease of use, (can be applied by anyone), ready to use with no mixing needed, long shelf life, safe with no injury to the tissue (exothermia) and no transmission of human bloodborne pathogens. Because no two wounds are alike, WoundStat™ is granular, allowing it to be poured into, mold and adhere to irregularly shaped and extensive wounds. And, unlike other products, it has shown no evidence of side effects.
WoundStat™ is easy and fast to use, even while wearing gloves for body substance isolation purposes or when treating a patient for severe bleeding in a tight extrication situation.

Application Instructions:
- Tear open WoundStat™ pouch at perforations
- Empty contents of pouch directly into wound
- Firmly pack WoundStat™ into all areas of the wound
- Hold pressure for up to 3 minutes
- If seepage occurs, perform additional packing of WoundStat™
- Wrap and secure a bandage to maintain pressure during patient transport
- If bleeding continues, remove bandage and apply a second application of WoundStat™
- Seek medical care as soon as possible and show empty pack to medical personnel.
Do not remove the previous application!
When applied correctly, WoundStat™ will halt severe bleeding in seconds and stay in place to continue hemostasis for at least three hours.
Literature:
WoundStat™ has been tested extensively in animal trauma models followed by the US Army and the US Navy/Marine Corps. Using these models, considered by some as the "gold standard" for testing ballistic wound treatments, Virginia Commonwealth University found that an early version of WoundStat™ enabled animal survival in 100 percent of testing cases, while products currently used by the military failed. That study has been published in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of Trauma. (www.jtrauma.com ; Ward, K. et al)
