Anyone involved in an active sport - backpackers, mountain climbers, dirt bike racers, boating enthusiasts, motorcyclists – knows that a traumatic accident poses greater risk because of remote locations and distance to emergency services. Uncontrolled bleeding can be life threatening. But now a product is available to stop that bleeding.
WoundStat™ will halt severe bleeding within seconds, and it will stay in place for at least three hours - buying people the critical time needed to reach help, or to have emergency responders reach them. The product is easy to use and light/small enough to carry in an emergency medical kit or backpack.
Product Description:
WoundStat™ has been scientifically proven to meet the challenge of severely bleeding wounds. Because no two wounds are alike, WoundStat™ is granular, allowing it to be poured into, mold and adhere to irregularly shaped and extensive wounds. And, unlike other products, it has shown no evidence of side effects. WoundStat™ is a mineral based product, produced in the United States, is offered in a moisture-impermeable, sterile, 5.5-ounce foil pouch that can be easily opened by hands or teeth.
Application Instructions:
- Tear open WoundStat™ pouch at perforations
- Empty contents of pouch directly into wound
- Firmly pack WoundStat™ into all areas of the wound
- Hold pressure for up to 3 minutes
- If seepage occurs, perform additional packing of WoundStat™
- Wrap and secure a bandage to maintain pressure during patient transport
- If bleeding continues, remove bandage and apply a second application of WoundStat™
- Seek medical care as soon as possible and show empty pack to medical personnel.
Do not remove the previous application!
Hemostasis is achieved temporarily for a period of at least three hours.
