Severe blood loss from a wound is a leading cause of death for soldiers and civilians alike. Some US army estimates indicate that 20% of battlefield deaths could be avoided with the availability of an effective hemostatic product. On the civilian side as many 40% of deaths¹ from motor vehicle accidents, gun shot wounds, and other trauma could be prevented with the use of such a product.
